How it works
Basic Formula
10% Solution is a single certification for all three key Giving drivers, they are:
- A percentage of sales or pre-tax profits
- Volunteer programs
- Green business practices
Financial: Companies must commit to 1% of sales or 5% of pre-tax profits, which ever is applicable for your company, to meet the financial requirement.
Time: Companies must have an organized, tracked and managed employee volunteer program with an overall volunteer rate of 2.5% to meet the time requirement.
Sustainability: Companies must participate in a formal green business practice as outlined in certification programs such as, but not limited to - LEEDS, USDA organic, OTA or Green-e, as appropriate for specific industries to meet the 2.5% sustainability requirement.
What You Get
Once your company has met all the criteria and successfully completed the accreditation process, you will receive the 10% Solution Certification Logo for your immediate use.
- You can proudly display this logo on your products, your website, in advertising, brochures and internal informational materials.
- Your use of your certification logo will let your customers know they are supporting a business that recognizes the importance of Giving.
- You can use your logo on internal publications. A 10% certification means you and your employees have something you are actively supporting and can be proud of. Beyond the benefits of retention it is also a wonderful recruitment aide.
- You will also have a prominent place on our website with other 10% Solution companies. 10percentsolution.com is a place for consumers to learn more about how you give, and provides a direct link to your site.
- You will have access to our knowledge base of other participating companies. You can share best practices and get ideas from other 10% companies.
Research shows time and time again that when consumers are given a choice between two like products, they consistently choose the product that demonstrates and highlights a social return on investment (SROI) strategy. The 10% Solution logo puts your message of Giving front and center and allows consumers to make a socially conscious choice that they can see and appreciate.
Starting the process is a single step
Contact us if you think you are ready to start the accreditation process to becoming a 10% Solution company. Once we receive your email, we will contact you to start the accreditation process with a simple contract. If you know you are not ready today but you want to start down the path that leads to the 10% certification we will set up an initial meeting to get you started.

Maintaining Certification
To maintain your certification and use of the 10% Solution logo will require an annual renewal. 10% Solution will contact you prior to your annual renewal to re-certify that your company continues to meet the core accreditation standards.

Social Responsibility Platform (SRP)
If you know you are not ready today, but you want to start down the path that leads to the 10% certification, we have the 10% Social Responsibility Platform (SRP) program as an entry point for companies. We understand that most companies want to be at the 10% certification level but often need time and assistance to get there. Also, there are times when companies don't want to obtain certification levels but still want to enact a Social Responsibility framework within their organization - that is what SRP is all about.
With SRP we do a baseline assessment of your social responsibility levels today, define paths for a larger integrated framework, outline various integration strategies (based on your business, marketing and cultural needs) and give you an outlay and timeline for each option. You end up with a clear idea of where you are and a road map for moving forward.
